Rebecca and Fred

This is Rebecca showing her Quarterhorse Fred. He’s a real good looker and a coming jumper. Such a good-natured horse. Loves to eat – will eat anything you give him. Potato chips is a favorite snack.

I always show Rebecca in her goofy pictures. Here she is with Fred in a Showmanship Class.

Here’s Fred in some small beginner jumps. He’s only 3 1/2 years old, (actually he’s 5 years old Rebecca informs me, but that’s still pretty young) so he’s got plenty of time to work on bigger and bigger jumps.

It’s Family Reunion Time

We made a trip up to Utah this Summer. This is Hole-in-the-Rock, near Moab. It’s quite the natural wonder and a good break from the doldrums of the drive.

At the top of Mt. Baldy at Snowbird, Utah. That’s about 11,000 feet at the summit where we are. We rode the tram up there, but many others in our family reunion group hiked all the way up. I think you can see most of the state from up there. Together Everyone Achieves More. The motto for the Stafford Tigers. Stafford Elementary, Italy, TX. Carolyn Maevers, Principal. A great school!

See, there’s Katie hiking up the mountain. She said it was one of the most difficult things she’s ever done. I believe it.

That’s Diane’s side of the family (just a few missing) all met together this Summer for the reunion. Snowbird, Utah is really quite beautiful in the Summer.

Special Care and Feeding

We had one calf born this summer whose Mama just didn’t seem to like him very much. She was a first-time mama and probably didn’t know what was happening. We took in the calf and fed it to help it survive.

Mowing Over Turkey Eggs

Eric was getting some training mowing on the big tractor. Nice hair, eh? We mow right over small bushes and scrubby trees hoping to encourage lots of grass to grow. One such bush must have been the hiding place for some quail or wild turkey eggs. On the next pass by is when we noticed them.

It’s quite a few eggs. We gathered them up and took them to the house to see if we could incubate them and raise whatever hatched, be it quail or turkeys.

This was our incubator for the wild turkey eggs. A lamp on the kitchen counter. Diane would examine the eggs every so often to see if she could hear anything or see anything growing inside. At length, we finally decided that they must have gotten too hot under the lamp. So much for our attempt to save them.

Approaching Storm

Texas is famous for it’s thunderstorms. Over the plains you can get quite a view of approaching storms. The winds can be fierce sometimes. It’s a good thing we have a dome on site where we can take shelter if a tornado warning is sounded. Our dome is a monolithic dome from the famous company in Italy (Texas that is) that invented them. Check them out at www.monolithic.com.

Australian Shepherd Puppies!

The puppies are registered but we have not yet received their papers. If you buy we will send their papers to you once they come in the mail. Their tails have been docked and they are current on their rabies shots. All the puppies will grow up to be active dogs since that is what they were bred to be, though some of them are less active compared to the others. They are all very friendly and love people. They make great pets and learn very quickly.

Update: All the puppies are sold. Thanks everyone and enjoy those dogs. We sure have. If you missed out, sorry, we’ll probably have some more puppies next Summer.

Female Red Merle $300 Out of all the puppies this one is my favorite. It’ll be hard to see her go but I know someone will love her as much as I do. She is relatively calm for an austrailian puppy and doesn’t like to be left alone. Posted by Hello

Female Red Tri $300 She looks a little chubby right here but she’s really sweet and isn’t as chubby as this picture makes her out to be. She gets along with everyone very well. Posted by Hello
